That’s right, THE EYES OF ME was nominated for an Emmy earlier today in the category of Best Graphics & Art Direction… Specifically, Gary Walker (Visual Effects), Jason Archer, paul Beck & Ryan Hennessee (Animators) and Keith Maitland (Director) were recognized for creating the distinctive visual elements that helped EYES stand out from most standard docs. More so, we’re excited because these Graphics and Art Direction choices weren’t simply aesthetic decisions to create an interesting visual landscape for the film, they were aesthetic choices made to address the very themes within the film - All of the integrated texts, floating braille elements and rotoscoped animated segments served to remind the viewer to be cognizant of their own sight (and what a loss of that sight would represent).
This is a big and exciting step forward for a project that has continued to meet its audience head-on long after the film fests and TV broadcasts ended… We are excited.
Emmy’s are awarded on September 26th in NYC - keep your fingers crossed for us.
